- Aaron Finch and Sam Harper will open the inning while ever reliable Shaun Marsh will bat next. All the 3 are very talented players of this format. Shaun Marsh is a technically strong batsman while Aaron finch is a hard-hitting batsman. Finch has two 30+ and a 50+ score in his last 5 T20I matches along with a century (119 runs) in his last List A match. Shaun Marsh was also in good form in Australia Domestic One Day Cup. His scores were 101*, 8, 85, 30 in last 4 List A matches.
- Sam Harper (341 runs) was the top scorer of the team in the last season. He scored an attacking century in the warm-up game.
- Tom Cooper and Alex Doolan will play in the middle order. Tom Cooper (324 runs) is a very talented batsman and was the 2nd highest run-scorer for Renegades in the last season. Doolan is an average batsman.
- Daniel Christian and J Wildermuth will do late hitting duty. Christian is a very talented batsman and was the 3rd highest run-scorer (254 runs) in the last season. Currently, he is out of form with the bat and is occasionally taking wickets but he is a match-winner of this format.
- Kane Richardson, Harry Gurney and R Gleeson will lead the pace attack of the team while Jack Wildermuth will assist them. Kane Richardson was the leading wicket-taker (24 wickets) in the last season and currently, he is in great form.
- Harry Gurney is known for his variations and is a very good death bowler. R Gleeson has a good name in England’s domestic circuit.
- Cameron Boyce will handle the spin department where Tom Cooper can support him with his spin bowling. Cameron Boyce was the 2nd leading (16 wickets) wicket-taker for Renegades in the previous season.

- Sydney Thunder got off to a winning start in the opening game of BBL 2019-20.
- Usman Khwaja and Alex Hales will open the inning. Both are very talented batsmen and are the consistent performers of this format. Khwaja got out early in the last match but he played in attacking manner and can score big in this match. Alex Hales got out cheaply in the last match but can score big on his day. He has just played the innings of 97* & 41 in his last 2 matches before coming in BBL 2019-20.
- Callum Ferguson, Matthew Gikes and Alex Ross will bat in the middle order. Callum Forguson scored a match-winning knock of 73* runs against in the last match and is a very talented batsman. He carried out his Australia Domestic One-day Cup performance where he scored 122, 127, 91, 28, 0 in his last 5 matches. Mathew Gikes got out cheaply in last match but he is a rising star, having given glimpses of his talent for New South Wales this season to follow his 51 off 38 balls on T20 debut for the Thunder last summer.
- Daniel Sams and Chris Green will do late hitting duty. Sams is a good hitter of the ball. Chris Green showed his all-round ability by scoring 25 runs with the bat in the last match.
- Daniel Sams and Chris Tremain will lead the pace attack and will be supported by Nathan McAndrew. C Tremain is their main pace bowler and is a wicket-taking bowler. D Sams is known for his variations.
- Jonathan Cook, Chris Green and Arjun Nair will lead the spin attack. All 3 spinners played a major role in the previous victory against Brisbane Heat as they bowled economically and picked 2 wickets each. C Green is their best spinner and is a genuine wicket-taker of this format.
