• Srilanka has dropped their regular skipper D Chandimal from the squad because of his poor performance. D Karunaratne is named as stand in captain of Srilanka.
• D Karunartne and L Thirmanne will open the attack for Srilankan team.
• Dilruwan Parera is also dropped from the squad because of his performance.
• Dhananjay De silva should bat at number 3 for Srilanka, he is technical player who has the ability to play longer innings in test cricket but he lacks consistency.
• Kusal Mendis will bat at number 4 for Srilanka, he was the highest scorer of test for Srilanka in 2018.
• Kusal Parera will follow him next but he is good player of limited over cricket but he has yet to prove himself in this longer format of the cricket.

• N Dickwella will bat next and he will do the wicket keeping duty as well. Dickwella has played well for Srilanka during the Australia tour and he will have the responsibility to accelerate the inning along with tailenders.

• L Sandakan should be preferred in spin department because of his experience.
